StudyOwl Privacy Policy

StudyOwl ("the App", "we") is an AI study helper for school children in Class 1 to 5, operated by AI Digi Labs, India. This policy explains what we collect, why, who handles it, and how a parent can control or delete it. The App is meant to be set up by a parent or guardian.

1. What we collect

Account. Your Google account name and email address when you use "Continue with Google", and a user ID created for the account.

The child's profile (entered by the parent). The child's name, date of birth, class, school board, favourite subjects, an optional profile photo, and a parent or guardian email (required when the child is under 13).

Study content. Questions typed or spoken, homework, worksheet and notebook photos, chat messages with the tutor, quiz and mock-test answers and scores, chapters and lessons, streaks and progress, the history of solved questions, and the subjects or chapters a parent marks as needing extra work. Photos are taken or chosen only when the user taps the camera or gallery button.

Subscription. Which plan is active and when it ends. Payment is handled by Google Play. We never see or store card, UPI or bank details.

Device permissions. Camera (to photograph homework), microphone (voice questions) and notifications (reminders). Voice input is converted to text by the speech recognition service on your device, provided by Google. The App receives only the resulting text and does not store audio.

We do not collect location, contacts or advertising IDs. The App shows no ads and we use no advertising or analytics tools.

2. How we use it

• To answer questions, explain lessons, make quizzes and mock tests, and mark homework.
• To save progress to your account and restore it when you sign in on another phone.
• To send reminders you switch on, and the weekly progress summary if you opt in.
• To manage subscriptions through Google Play and check that a purchase is valid.

We do not sell personal data and we do not use children's data for advertising.

3. Who handles data for us

• Supabase: sign-in, database and file storage for the account, profile, progress and profile photo.
• AI service providers (currently Google Gemini and OpenAI): the question or photo is sent to them, through our server, to produce an answer. We do not use this content to train our own models and our server does not keep a copy of it. These providers process it under their own terms.
• Google: Sign in with Google, speech recognition on the device, and Google Play Billing.

They receive only what is needed for their task. We do not share data with anyone else, except where the law requires it.

4. Children

The App is for children, and a parent or guardian is asked to sign up, set up the profile and give a parent email. We ask for a date of birth only to apply age-appropriate rules, and we collect only what the App needs to work. A parent can see, correct or delete everything about their child at any time. Purchases are protected by a parent check in the App.

5. Keeping and deleting data

• We keep data while the account is active.
• In the App: Settings → Application Setting → Privacy → Delete Account & Data (or Help & Support → Delete Account). This deletes the account and all its data from our servers (profile, progress, history, profile photo and sign-in record) and from the phone.
• Without the App: email support@aidigilabs.in from the parent or guardian email linked to the account, or follow Delete your account. We delete within 30 days and confirm by email.
• If a subscription is active, cancel it in Google Play first. Deleting the account does not cancel billing.

6. Your rights

You may ask to access, correct or delete your or your child's data, and to withdraw consent, at any time. Use the in-app options above or email us. A parent or guardian may exercise these rights for a child.

7. Security

Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access to stored data is limited to the account owner and our server functions. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong Google account password.

8. Contact and grievances

Email support@aidigilabs.in. We reply to privacy requests and complaints within 30 days.

9. Changes

If we make a material change we will update the date above and, where required, tell parents in the App.
